Welcome, Rev. Dr. Stephen Kiptoem Mairori, NACADA Board Chairperson

Nairobi, January 24, 2023 - The National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) is pleased to welcome Rev. Dr. Stephen Kiptoem Mairori as the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Effective January 20, 2023, Dr. Mairori succeeds Prof. Mabel Imbuga after having served for the last two years.

“I feel very privileged to take on this role and want to thank His Excellency the President, Dr. William S. Ruto, for this appointment when the nation is grappling with the effects of alcohol and drug abuse. My desire is to have frameworks and structures that will protect our children and young people from alcoholism and drug addiction.”

While welcoming the new Chairperson, the CEO, Mr. Victor Okioma, unreservedly expressed the management and staff support to Dr. Mairori as he takes up his new role. “On behalf of management and staff, feel at home and we are ready to work with you as you steer the campaign against alcohol and drug abuse to the positive level.”

In his remarks, the Chairperson expressed that he is looking forward to working with County Governments to actualize their role in drug control, accessibility, and affordability of treatment and rehabilitation facilities and engagement of partners at the individual, national and international levels with the aim of winning the war on alcohol and drug abuse in Kenya.
