Ihururu Treatment and Rehabilitation Hospital Officially Opened by Her Excellency Pastor Dorcas Rigathi

On 28th November 2023, in Tetu, Nyeri County, Her Excellency Pastor Dorcas officially opened the Ihururu Treatment and Rehabilitation Hospital. The 90-bed capacity facility opened its doors in September 2023 after an assessment by the National Authority for the Campaign against Drug and Alcohol Abuse (NACADA) and official accreditation by the Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Kithure Kindiki on 8th November 2023. This Level IV hospital seeks to offer holistic services for persons with substance use disorders.

Recognizing the limitations of the existing rehabilitation facilities, she advocated for the establishment of dedicated wards in both national and county government hospitals. “I intend to pursue the Ministry of Health at both the national and county level to be able to open wards in their facilities to enable us to rehabilitate our youth. The crisis is huge, and even when we combine all the accredited rehabilitation centers in the country, it is impossible to contain the crisis in our nation.” She said.
