AJADA is a multidisciplinary journal addressing issues related to alcohol and drug abuse. Contributors to the journal examine and report on alcohol and drug abuse from a wide range of clinical, epidemiological, psychological and sociological perspectives. AJADA particularly encourages the submission of manuscripts focusing on the areas of Prevention, Advocacy, Policy Development & Briefs, Legislation, Enforcement, Treatment & Rehabilitation and other matters relating to alcohol and drug abuse.
Manuscripts are accepted on the basis of their quality, originality and significance to the readership. All manuscripts will be evaluated and those deemed appropriate for publication will be peer reviewed by at least two reviewers. Final acceptance or rejection rests with the Editorial Board. In addition, statements and opinions expressed in the articles and communications appearing in the journal and those of the authors are not necessarily those of the editors and publisher. The editors and publisher disclaim any responsibility or liability for such material. Neither the editors nor the publisher guarantee, warrant, or endorse any product or service advertised in this publication, nor do they guarantee any claim made by the author.
This is an open access journal with authors retaining copyrights for their manuscripts. Manuscripts are reusable in other forms and media with proper citation of the original paper. All papers in the journal are accessible through the internet and also in print. While the information in this journal is believed to be true and accurate as of the date of publication, neither the editors nor the publisher accept any legal responsibility for errors or omissions that may be made. The publisher makes no warranty, express or implied, with respect to the material contained herein.
Reporting Standards: Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly making inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable. Review and professional publication articles should also be accurate and objective, and editorial ‘opinion’ works should be clearly identified as such.
Data Access and Retention: Authors may be asked to provide the research data supporting their paper for editorial review. Authors should be prepared to retain such data for a period of five (5) years after publication.
Originality and Acknowledgement of Sources: All submissions should be original work and free from plagiarism. The work should be written in an impersonal style. Declaration of authorship or originality should be declared and written permissions to use non-original material sought.
Concurrent Publication: Once a manuscript is submitted to AJADA, an author should not submit the same to any other journal during the review period.
Confidentiality: Information obtained from confidential sources must not be used without the written permission from the authors, organization or funders of the work.
Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. They should be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author should ensure that only the appropriate co-authors are included on the manuscript, and that all co-authors have reviewed, approved and agreed to the submission of the final version of the manuscript for publication. Authors are expected to consider the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript.
Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects: If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript. If the work involves the use of animal or human subjects, the author should ensure that the manuscript contains a statement that all procedures were performed in compliance with relevant laws and institutional guidelines and that the appropriate institutions have approved them. Authors must include a statement in the manuscript that informed consent was obtained for experimentation with human subjects.
